A source told People Magazine,” It was evident that childhood fame took a toll on his mental health over the years. “He started off as a typical sweet, Canadian teen. He was such a great kid, honestly super sweet and very polite and nice to everyone around him. Having this huge amount of fame completely changed him. He had access to anything and everything and was surrounded by people who just said ‘Yes.’ ”

“He’s emotional and struggles a lot with the idea of fame—being followed, having his every move stalked by fans, cameras in his face,” the source continued. “It all sets him off and he often feels like everyone is out to get him.”

Earlier this year, Bieber spoke to Vogue about the depression he suffered on his purpose tour, which was one of the very first times he has addressed his mental health.

Justin ended the tour early, although, at the time the exact reason wasn’t disclosed. “I got really depressed on tour,” he said. “I haven’t talked about this, and I’m still processing so much stuff that I haven’t talked about. I was lonely. I needed some time.”

The source confirms to People that, “Justin is still receiving treatments and working on his health. Sharing his struggles and thoughts with fans seems to have been very beneficial to him. He seems to feel less pressure and is able to focus on his health in peace.”
