It’s undeniable that the Egyptian national team footballer has been acting out of bound.
The 25-year-old footballer released a public apology on his official Facebook page, addressing everyone that he may have hurt after being exposed online cyber-harassing multiple women on social media.
This behavior, however, isn’t uncommon in a country where there have been multiple headlines of public sexual harassment.
On behalf of the Empower Team, we ask everyone to pay close attention to their loved ones, checking on their wellbeing around their online and on-ground activities.
While Amr Warda, a high profile Egyptian footballer, may have been put on the hook – many others, of lower profiles – remain to behave similarly.
If this full-blown exposing of Amr Warda taught us one thing; It only showed us the real power of social media and unity.
Following the intervention of several of his team-mates, including Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Warda will now be returning to the National team for their knockout stage games.
While we will not comment on the reaction coming from some of the national team’s individuals, we have the utmost respect for the Egyptian FA, acting in the best interest of the Egyptian National Team.
Amr Warda’s sexual harassment claims have not only caused a major backlash at the Egyptian FA – it woke up those who were unconscious of just how series cyber sexual harassment can be.
Almost Every Egyptian Woman Is Subjected to Sexual Harassment in some way, shape or form.
Thank You, Warda, for shining light on yet another serious topic worth delving deeper into.
Sexual Harassment backfires a lot on the overall mental wellbeing of our women.
We need to believe in second chances… we need to guide and educate. Shunning is not the answer.
